Joker Plus
JokerPlus is a cross-market lottery platform that brings Malaysia’s 4D games and Australia’s Set for Life inspired Lucky 7 into a single, unified mobile experience. Built for a rapidly growing audience, the app combines cinematic UI with clear, trustworthy gameplay to make complex lottery systems feel simple, modern, and easy to play.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Building a unified lottery experience across regions
Working closely with the product lead and engineers, I contributed to the end-to-end design of JokerPlus. I shaped UI patterns, designed key game screens, and established the design system that unified Malaysian 4D lotteries with the new Lucky 7 game. The goal was to simplify complex mechanics, build trust through clarity, and deliver a seamless experience across the entire platform.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Creating a New System for an Established Player Base
The client already had a large and loyal customer base for Malaysian 4D lottery games, but their existing app was limited by outdated visuals and inconsistent interaction patterns. As they prepared to expand into the Australian market and introduce a new game format, they needed a modern platform that could support both audiences. JokerPlus created the opportunity to redesign complex lottery flows with clearer structure, while also introducing a more cinematic and engaging visual direction that aligned with the client’s broader ambitions in the gaming space.
CORE INSIGHT
A cinematic experience still needs clear structure.
RESARCH SUMMARY
Designing a clearer way to understand complex lottery games
Research revealed that many users, especially those outside Malaysia, were unfamiliar with 4D game mechanics. To support these players, we introduced contextual hints throughout the experience, offering clear explanations without interrupting the flow of the game.
KEY FINDINGS
Players had to know the rules before they could play
Existing 4D and lottery apps assumed that players already understood the mechanics. New users often struggled with terminology, bet types, and differences between game formats, and had little contextual guidance to help them learn.
DESIGN RESPONSE
Guidance built directly into the gameplay
JokerPlus introduced a unified interaction model supported by lightweight tutorials, how-to-play buttons, and contextual hints. This allowed players to understand unfamiliar mechanics without leaving the game, making complex formats easier to follow while maintaining a cinematic, gaming-first experience.
CORE INSIGHT
Guidance helps players feel comfortable exploring complex games.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Designing for confidence in complex play
JokerPlus includes games with different rules and levels of complexity, so the system needed to support players as they learned. These principles guided how we introduced clarity, maintained familiar patterns, and kept the experience feeling approachable.
01
Help players learn without breaking the flow
Complex mechanics require support, but long tutorials interrupt the experience.
Hints, short explanations, and optional “how it works” moments let players learn naturally while staying in the rhythm of the game.
02
Use consistent patterns to reduce the learning curve
Different games have different rules, but the interface should feel familiar.
Reusable layouts, predictable steps, and a shared visual language help players understand new formats faster.
03
Make choices feel intentional and outcomes feel clear
Players should always feel they know what they are selecting and what it means.
Ticket previews, explanatory text, and clear states help turn uncertainty into confidence, even in complex games.
CORE INSIGHT
Players feel more at ease when the experience teaches itself.
LUCKY7
A familiar draw reimagined as a modern game system
Lucky 7 brings together five variations of Australia’s Set for Life draw, each with its own way of playing. Instead of designing each game separately, we built a shared interaction model that makes the experience feel familiar no matter which variant players choose. Clear number entry, consistent patterns, and guided explanations help players understand the rules while keeping the experience cinematic and engaging.
CORE INSIGHT
Consistency turned five different games into one cohesive experience.
4D LOTTO
Turning a rule-heavy lottery into an intuitive game experience
4D Lotto carries decades of cultural familiarity in Malaysia, but for new players the mechanics can feel overwhelming. We reworked the flow to reveal information gradually, using hints, clear states, and subtle scaffolding to keep players oriented. This approach let the complexity stay powerful without feeling intimidating.
CORE INSIGHT
The real work was creating a flow that made four different rule sets feel part of one product.
DEPOSIT AND WITHDRAW
Designing a payment flow built on trust and ease
Deposits and withdrawals needed to feel simple, trustworthy, and predictable across both markets. We designed a unified flow with clear payment options, transparent balances, and step-by-step guidance. Players can manage accounts, set defaults, and complete transactions without leaving the game experience.
CORE INSIGHT
Small points of friction matter more in payments than anywhere else.
IMPACT
Establishing the foundation for a scalable gaming hub
JokerPlus launched as a unified home for 4D Lotto and Lucky 7, but the long-term goal extends far beyond lottery. This release created the core patterns, payment flows, and interaction models needed for a broader gaming ecosystem, one capable of supporting new game types, third-party integrations, and a richer entertainment offering.
With v1 now live across Malaysia and Australia, the platform is positioned to grow into a full gaming hub as upcoming features, user feedback, and system refinements shape the next phase.
01
Early engagement across markets
Strong initial usage from Malaysian players validated the updated structure and clearer betting flows. Australian players engaged most with Lucky 7’s simpler formats.
02
Clearer game comprehension
Hints, how-to-play modules, and consistent patterns helped reduce confusion across the four 4D formats. Players reported feeling more confident navigating unfamiliar game types.
03
Foundation for scalable iteration
The launch established core patterns, components, and flows across all games. This sets the stage for a design-system audit, UI cleanup, and targeted improvements based on upcoming user feedback.
